In The Queen of My Self,
Donna Henes proposes a completely original paradigm—
that of the midlife Queen, a woman in her prime who has
achieved wisdom, mastery, and self-esteem— that reflects
more accurately the realities and needs of women today.
Henes draws on history, mythology, and literature, her own
life experience, as well as stories from women in many different
societies, situations and stations to provide upbeat, practical,
and ceremonial inspiration for all women who want to enjoy
the fruits of an influential, passionate, and powerful maturity.
“Finally, an archetype of midlife
power and maturity that I can relate to— The Queen.
Thank you Donna for providing this much-needed missing piece
of women’s wisdom.”

There is a difference between being
selfish and being who you are. When you are strong and stand
firm in this knowledge you can be both generous and loving
and also know when to back off and take care of yourself.
I believe women have twisted themselves into knots to be
who they think should be and act in ways that is not true
to their being. Donna describes her journey to Queendom
in vivid and poignant detail offering along the way guideposts
that we can all recognize. This is not a how-to-book but
a declaration of a new archetype that will empower women
all over the planet. My niece wanted to know how to become
a Queen after reading Donna’s article in last month’s
issue. I told her I would lend her my copy of Donna’s.
This book is geared toward women entering midlife but I
think this is a valuable book for Queens in the making.
